The Reptile Information Database is a resource we want
to share with everyone. To simplify this process, we are making the R.I.D a
resource that webmasters can add directly to their site. By adding the R.I.D
directly to your site, you will be keeping your members ON your site but still
offering them the resources this site has to offer. This could prove to be very
beneficial to the amount of traffic your site sees.
Time It takes
to add the R.I.D to your site:
5 minutes or less
Requirements:
The ability to upload a file to your server.
The Benefits:
-
Keeps Your Members On Your Site.
- Adds Valuable Content To Your Site
- Creates Repeat Visitors To Your Site
- Offers Your Site Free Publicity
- Offers your Site A Reciprocal Link
- Updates Automatically As We Add New Information
- Uses OUR Bandwidth To Display The Information and
Images
- Helps Spread Quality Information
How It Works:
On the bottom of this
page you
will see 2 types of downloads. We offer 2 types of downloads as we are aware
that some users prefer the .rar extension opposed to the .zip extension. These downloads contain the necessary files and
instructions for adding the R.I.D directly to your website. All that is required
from you is the ability to upload files to your server and the ability to add a
link on your site to the file you have uploaded. Within each type of
download you will find that we have made it possible to add either an HTML
version of the site or a PHP version of the site. This will allow
users the ability to maintain the existing flow and coding of their site.
Within the instructions we offer various ways to add a link to the page you
uploaded.
Reciprocal Link:
In order to gain the
reciprocal link on the homepage of the R.I.D, you need to forward me an email
with a link to the page where you have linked the file you uploaded on your
site. THAT is the page we will link back to. If you try to hide the link on the
site somewhere and expect us to link to your homepage, you are mistaken. We will
only link to the page that contains the link to the uploaded file.
Periodically we will check the validity of the links on the homepage to ensure
that users have not removed the file in an attempt to gain a "free" reciprocal
link. If we click your "Participating Sites Link", and find the link is no
longer on that page, we will remove your sites link permanently from the R.I.D.
If you move your link, you must contact us immediately so we can update the link
you have on the homepage. Once a link has been removed, it will never be
re-added. (We will ONLY add a reciprocal link to sites that deal with reptiles
or invertebrates. If you own a computer forum/site and add the R.I.D, you will
not receive a reciprocal link.)
Did you Add The R.I.D?
If you added the R.I.D and want to gain the reciprocal link on the homepage,
please send an email using this form:
Contact Us. Please include the
title, "R.I.D Reciprocal Link". The message should include a link to the page
you have added the link to the uploaded file. After we have confirmed the link,
and that it is working, we will add your site and send a return email informing
you of its addition!
Limitations:
The only
limitation that you have when adding the R.I.D to your site is that you can't
claim the work as your own. The R.I.D is copyright protected by both the HC
Network as well as the original author. Anyone who attempts to claim the
information or site as their own will be prosecuted. This doesn't mean you need
to inform your users that you have added this information from another source,
it just means you can't claim it as your own. |
